I try out not to be crucial, but I am a film critic. So, yeah, I am technically paid to be — to some diploma.
When it arrives to Christian movies, the motion picture-viewing knowledge hasn’t always been the finest. And generally when an email pops up in my inbox advertising a new religion flick, I catch myself mid-eye roll. It really is involuntary, I promise and I am receiving my heart ideal about it.
And, I can not lie. It occurred all over again, yesterday, when I received a concept advertising the new trailer for an approaching film titled The Resurrection of Gavin Stone. (The name by yourself raises some eyebrows, am I ideal?!)
Opening the concept, I was greeted with what felt like an all-too common character and storyline — a renowned terrible boy has to do local community services and is miraculously put wherever he’ll uncover God.
Then, I noticed two names in the copy of the email — Brett Dalton and Dallas Jenkins. Brett, you could possibly figure out from ABC’s primetime Television set exhibit, Marvel’s Agents of Shield (which begins its fourth season tonight). Dallas is a filmmaker and the son of bestselling Christian author, Jerry B. Jenkins.
Now, I am intrigued. I watch the trailer and… I am pleasantly amazed. Although the plot and people do not seem really original, the motion picture seems to be heartfelt and amusing. By natural means, I am anxious to see on January 20, 2017, when the motion picture releases, if all of the very good bits are in the trailer (a sad occurrence in film) or if The Resurrection of Gavin Stone has much extra to present.
Test out the trailer for The Resurrection of Gavin Stone…
So, what do you think? Will you see The Resurrection of Gavin Stone when it releases in January?
